Zawadi Africa Education Fund
TO PROVIDE ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH TRAVEL AND LIVING FOR WOMEN FROM AFRICA TO ATTEND U.S. OR OTHER INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION. SINCE THE ORGANIZATION BEGAN MORE THAN 400 STUDENTS HAVE BEEN ENROLLED AT TOP UNIVERSITIES IN THE U.S. THE STUDENTS IN THE PROGRAM HAVE AN AVERAGE GPA OF 3.75. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE PARTNERS IN THIS INITIATIVE BY HOLDING DOWN ON-CAMPUS JOBS TO PAY FOR BOOKS AND INCIDENTALS. ON AVERAGE, THE PROGRAM PAYS FOR LESS THAN 10% OF THE TOTAL COSTS OF A FOUR YEAR EDUCATION, WITH THE BALANCE FUNDED BY MERIT BASED COLLEGE GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS. THE ESTIMATED VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2021 WAS 368,000. OTHER DONATED SERVICES INCLUDE AIR FARE, CLOTHING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
